I had a difficult time finding a decent, free converter, that does a simple conversion of the old Opera Mail contacts.adr file to CSV format, so I could then import it into Thunderbird.
There are solutions online that cost a lot of money, and some that don't work. In general it's a format that no one is using and no one seems to care about.
As per-usual, I've had to create my own solution. A converter. This one is rather simple due to the Opera Mail adr format it uses, which is the same format for Opera bookmarks. I'm referring to Opera and Opera Mail from the black'n'white days. Great software, but the company was taken over ages ago, and the original Opera software was thrown under a rock never to be seen again. A very sad day that was, for many.
You can download the converter from the OMI Ltd. code repository here :

I hope this saves someone the pain that I went through trying to find a solution.
BTW - this does require Perl. I am planning on a compiled executable that run on Windows, but that's a few dollars away!
